De weg hiernaartoe
Het fundament
Het begint bij de psychologie. Niet als achtergrond, maar als blik. De sociale en evolutionaire psychologie leerde mij de logica achter menselijk gedrag te zien: een fascinatie voor de onzichtbare lijnen waar we langs manoeuvreren, vaak zonder het zelf te weten. Die analytische nieuwsgierigheid is inmiddels een onlosmakelijke karaktereigenschap – en de rode draad in alles wat ik maak.
De uitholling
Jarenlang bevond ik mij midden in eigenzinnige subculturen met een sterke “fuck all” identiteit. Daar zag ik van dichtbij hoe authenticiteit onder druk van commercie langzaam werd uitgehold. Wat ik destijds vanuit een ondernemende rol observeerde, en wat men heden ten dage de ‘vertiktok-isering’ van de wereld noemt: een proces waarin betekenis en inhoud stapsgewijs verloren gaan aan vluchtige uniformisering. Mijn fascinatie voor echtheid is daar geworteld – en de gedrevenheid om beelden te maken die daartegenin gaan.
De stap vooruit
Toen de wereld in 2020 door COVID tot stilstand kwam, greep ik dat moment aan. In 2021 begon ik aan de Fotoacademie – een plek waar de analytische psycholoog, de kritische waarnemer en de persoonlijke herordening tot één versmolten. Hier heb ik het psychologische denken dat mij al jaren vormt vertaald naar een conceptueel kader, samen met mijn verzameling observaties en mijn ‘neurospicy’ brein. Die specifieke bedrading zorgt voor een kenmerkend contrast in hoe licht, compositie en betekenis samenkomen – zichtbaar in elk beeld dat ik kies te tonen.
Het breekpunt
Een ingrijpende persoonlijke gebeurtenis herordende vervolgens alles. In een periode van grote kwetsbaarheid, waarin zaken als affectie, erkenning en zelfbeschikking onder hoogspanning kwamen te staan, ontstond een onomkeerbaar breekpunt. Hoewel het verleden niet terug te draaien is, bracht het een fundamenteel inzicht voort: de camera niet langer als instrument te zien, maar als een motivatie voor een makende noodzaak.
Gemaakte meters
Die jaren aan de Fotoacademie bouwen voort op een fundament van intensief werken als concert-, event- en muziekfotograaf. De sociaal, cultureel en artistieke sector is de omgeving waar creativiteit in overvloed aanwezig is, en waar het merendeel van de beelden op deze site is ontstaan. Die jaren hebben niet alleen een scherp oog gevormd, maar ook een uitgesproken manier van werken - en een gevoel voor wat de moeite waard is om te laten zien.
Wat je hier zal zien
Bij een groot deel van het getoonde beeldmateriaal zijn pre en post onderhevig aan interpretatie en maken zo het verhaal. Wat je ziet is daarmee altijd een keuze: een selectie van momenten waarbij de onzichtbare laag zichtbaar werd. De intentie is dat het beeld automatisch een vraag of een gevoel bij de kijker initieert - én dat het resultaat vrij is voor een eigen dialoog.

The Foundation
It begins with psychology. Not as a background, but as a perspective. Social and evolutionary psychology taught me to see the logic behind human behavior: a fascination with the invisible lines we maneuver along, often without even knowing it. That analytical curiosity has since become an inseparable character trait—and the common thread in everything I create.
The Erosion
For years, I found myself in the midst of idiosyncratic subcultures with a strong “fuck all” identity. There, I saw up close how authenticity was slowly being eroded under the pressure of commerce. What I observed back then from an entrepreneurial role, what nowadays is called ‘TikTokization’ of the world: a process in which meaning and substance are gradually lost to fleeting uniformity. My fascination with authenticity is rooted there—as is the drive to create images that go against it.
The step forward
When the world came to a standstill due to COVID in 2020, I seized that moment. In 2021, I started at the Photo Academy—a place where the analytical psychologist, the critical observer, and personal reorganization fused into one. Here, I translated the psychological thinking that has shaped me for years into a conceptual framework, together with my collection of observations and my ‘neurospicy’ brain. That specific wiring creates a characteristic contrast in how light, composition, and meaning come together—visible in every image I choose to show.
The Breaking Point
A profound personal event subsequently reordered everything. In a period of great vulnerability, in which matters such as affection, recognition, and self-determination came under immense strain, an irreversible breaking point emerged. Although the past cannot be undone, it yielded a fundamental insight: to no longer view the camera as an instrument, but as a motivation for a creating necessity.
Quarters covered
Those years at the Photo Academy build upon a foundation of intensive work as a concert, event, and music photographer. The social, cultural, and artistic sector is the environment where creativity abounds, and where the majority of the images on this site originated. Those years have not only shaped a keen eye but also a distinct way of working—and a sense of what is worth showing.
What you will see here
For a large part of the visual material shown, pre- and post-processing are subject to interpretation, thus creating the story. What you see is therefore always a choice: a selection of moments where the invisible layer became visible. The intention is that the image automatically initiates a question or a feeling in the viewer—and that the result is free for its own dialogue.
